Orvieto International Institute for Classical Studies

The Department of Classics' fully accredited overseas program (jointly administered with the city of Orvieto, Italy and the Orvieto Civic Foundation) is the UA's most popular study abroad program. Courses are offered in fall, spring, and summer sessions, and usually include Ancient Greek and Latin languages, literature, art, archaeology, as well as Italian and courses from other disciplines. The Institute also provides opportunities for archaeological fieldwork and museum internships. Orvieto is a hill fortress in Umbria, surrounded by ancient Etruscan and Roman sites, and just forty-five minutes away from Rome by train. The Institute is housed in a beautiful 14th century building with extensive computer facilities. For more information, visit the Orvieto website.
